Raglan Talking to Raglan - 15-04-2025( 1:25:22)
Episode Information
It's the time of year when District and Regional councils are asking for our views on their plans, so an interview with each and some details of what's in them, including the errors. In Raglan, for a bus every 4 hours, the rate will be $76.69 per property, the same as those with an hourly bus, such as Cambridge, or Huntly. Another anomaly is that Te Uku and Whatawhata, on the same Raglan bus route, will pay pay half, $38.35. Another oddity is that council staff on their 'facilities team' and their 'climate change group' seem unable to agree on replacing cattle on Wainui Reserve with trees. It had been agreed for last January, but is now awaiting "bought in"!

Raglan Talking to Raglan - 01-04-2025( 1:29:35)
Episode Information
A minor mystery this week. Both our councillor and mayor say traffic lights on the bridge are gone from the plans, yet this morning's council agenda said they were, "removed as part of the Enhanced Annual Plan", but, "with a note to reconsider this as part of the 2025-2034 LTP". There's also the mysteries of why the Community Board meeting was postponed from last week to tomorrow and why it has 'Raglan Recreation Plan' on its agenda, but it is now being promoted as 'Raglan Sports Park', seemingly ignoring the active recreation of most adults, as Sports Council surveys indicate only about 1% play rugby and 2% soccer, but 50% walk for recreation.

Raglan Talking to Raglan - 11-03-2025( 1:29:12)
Episode Information
District Council talked about their Long Term Plan this morning. We'll be consulted about it from 28 March. It includes $39m to be spent on local roundabouts and bridges over the next 9 years. In an age of climate change, is that the best way to spend money, when the local bus only gets around $146,000 a year. Instead of the new roads we could have over 25 times more public transport, with money left over for more walking and cycling. We also hear from Dennis of the Community Board and Jasmine talking about Wednesday night's māui dolphin day science night.
