The Jim Gardner Lecture: Founded in 1999 the Canterbury History Foundation was formed to encourage and support research, publication and interest in History within the wider Canterbury region. It also makes grants available to History post-graduate students. Each year it hosts the Jim Gardner lecture and awards the Rhodes History medal which recognises lifetime achievement in the voluntary support of historical research, archives, museums or community awareness of the value of History. This year’s recipient was Belinda Jones. We recorded this year’s Jim Gardner Memorial Lecture by Dr. Ursula Rack entitled: Making Climate Change Visible – a short history of Antarctic climate research.
